Our Services.
GSD Architects provides architectural design, documentation and project management services across commercial, industrial, aged care, healthcare, education, government and residential developments.
Our services are tailored to suit individual project requirements, from initial design concepts through to detailed documentation and construction-stage services.
Planning Your Project.
3D Visualisation
Understanding architectural drawings isn't always easy, which is why 3D visualisation can be such a valuable part of the design process.
We create realistic architectural renders that help clients visualise their proposed development before construction begins.
These images allow clients to explore building forms, materials, colours and finishes, while also providing useful presentation material for stakeholders, planning applications and project marketing.
Feasibility & Master Planning
Before committing to a development, it's important to understand what's possible.
We help clients explore development opportunities, assess site constraints and investigate potential building layouts. This may include preliminary design options, site master planning and consideration of future expansion or staged development.
Concept Design
Every project starts with an idea.
We work with clients to understand their requirements, budget and vision, developing initial design concepts that explore building layouts, functionality and architectural character.
This stage helps establish a clear direction for the project before progressing into more detailed design work.
Design & Documentation
Planning & Building Approvals
Before construction can begin, a project may require planning and building approvals, depending on its location and scope.
In Victoria, these generally involve Planning Permits and Building Permits, while in New South Wales they may involve Development Applications (DA) and Construction Certificates (CC).
We prepare architectural drawings and documentation to support these processes, working with town planning consultants, building surveyors, certifiers and other specialist consultants as required.
Our role is to help clients understand the approval process and coordinate the information required to progress their project.
Construction Documentation
Once the design has been developed, we prepare detailed architectural drawings and specifications to communicate how the building is to be constructed.
This includes construction details, materials, finishes and coordination with structural engineers and other specialist consultants.
Clear, coordinated documentation helps builders accurately price and construct the project, reducing uncertainty during construction.
Project Delivery
Design Development
Once the initial concept has been established, we work with clients to further develop and refine the design.
This stage involves reviewing building layouts, materials, finishes and construction methods, while coordinating input from engineers and other specialist consultants.
The aim is to resolve key design decisions and establish a coordinated design before progressing into detailed construction documentation.
Tendering & Procurement
Once the construction documentation is complete, the project can be presented to builders for pricing.
We assist clients with the tendering process, including preparing tender documentation, responding to builder enquiries and reviewing submissions.
Our role is to help clients compare quotations, understand what has been included and make informed decisions when selecting a builder.
Project Management
Building projects involve many moving parts, from consultants and approvals through to budgets, construction programmes and contractors.
We provide project management services to help clients coordinate these elements, manage project timelines and maintain clear communication between everyone involved.
Our involvement can begin during the early planning stages and continue through design, documentation and construction, depending on the needs of the project.
Contract Administration
Once construction begins, we can act as the Contract Administrator, administering the building contract between the client and builder.
This involves undertaking regular site inspections, reviewing progress claims, assessing variations and responding to construction-related queries.
Our role is to help ensure the works are carried out in accordance with the contract documentation, while providing clients with independent professional advice throughout construction.
